My Son Has Microphthalmia
Hi my name is Sherry and my son's name is Collin.
Collin is 7 months old and was born with Microphthalmia with cysts in
both eyes (bilateral). He has some vision in his right eye but needs
to wear glasses.
We put glasses on him when he was 2 months old and
he has really improved since then. He has a prosthesis in his left
eye because the eye is so small.
We began going to the Ocularist when he was about 1 month old. His eye
looks great, people do not know he has a prosthesis. He does everything
any other 7 month old would do.
He is crawling and climbing on everything and is a very happy and
energetic little guy. Collin is doing great and continues to surprise us everyday.
I know how frustrating it can be to be going through this and feel like
you are the only one who is dealing with anything like this. It has
really helped me to talk with other people with similar situations.
I put together a web site
with Collin's story on it. It is not the greatest site but I hope to
improve it and add information as I find it.
Please feel free to check it out or e-mail me. I look forward to
hearing from you.
Thank you,
Sherry
