Dear Friends:
My name is Selvan...
To those of you who have lost their eye to either some
health issues or to an unfortunate accident, I too have lost my left eye due
to health reasons...I was only 2 to 3 years old.
I am now 25 years old and its been about 23 years of my life gone
by with me being in this manner, seeing the world with 1 eye. I do have the
interest and quench for desire to know how it feels to have stereoscopic
vision, although I have not totally given up hope on it.
I have learned to
accept the way that I am, but I have had a tendency to look back and think why me?
I know
that there is no point in thinking too much of it and spoiling my present life
and future. I believe life ahead of me will be bright and I intend
to make it so.
During the stages of growing up,
I've gone through lots of memories, good and bad, those who were supportive to
me and those who were not. I was showered with love by family, relatives and friends...That
is
what gave me the strength and the courage to go on.
I even began thinking would I ever
get married and thought would a girl accept me for the way that I am? However,
I realized I was so wrong when I came to know that its not my physical
appearance that matters as its what's inside me that matters the most!
I have gone through so much in my life, made so many friends, good friends who
are always there for me. I have completed my college studies and received
a degree Electronics. Even though I have only one eye I have accomplished things that
many people with two eyes have not.
I want to say to those who are in
similar position as me, just hang in there, we're much better off than you
think...Never put yourself down and be who you want to be.
Regards,
Selvan
