Dear Friends:

In 1959 when I was twelve years old,  I lost my eye in a fireworks accident. Nothing much was explained to me except that I would get a "glass eye".

My mother took me to an optometrist who had an ocularist come to his office once a week. I remember he was pleasant enough, but since I was only 12, no one bothered explaining much to me.

I had the usual teen-age problems of adjustment and was always sensitive about my eye. Here in Seattle, I found an excellent ocularist and have been able to finally accept and feel good about my eye and myself.

I have just briefly given the outlines here, but I would certainly be happy to chat and answer any questions others may have about my experiences or what you may be going through.
