Lee's Encouraging Story

First let me say I think this website  for those who have artificial eyes is an excellent idea.

I lost my right eye when I was 13 years old by playing baseball in an alley that also stored farm equipment.  As I dropped back to catch a fly ball, I landed on a sharp part of one the pieces of equipment and injured my eye to the point where it had to be removed shortly thereafter in my hometown of Ashtabula, Ohio.

The surgeon did an excellent job and later I was fitted for a prosthesis in Erie, Pa.

I re-adjusted and continued to live a normal teenage life to include being an all-star tight end on the football team and a sharp-shooter on the basketball team. I mention that not to boast but to encourage those who are fearful or might lack confidence.

I am now 56 years old living in Rochester, Michigan and have many wonderful and humorous stories about my experience to date . I might have lost some eyesight but as a result of this entire experience, I was blessed with invaluable 'insight' and strength that has allowed me to live a more productive life and to surmount other obstacles along the way.

I firmly believe that others so affected are likewise blessed.

I would be happy to hear from anyone having a problem with their eye loss.

Sincerely,

Lee
