My name is Angela I am 28 years old.
I was born blind in my left eye.
My problems started when I was 3 months old,
my mother said my eye became red and swollen. She took me to the nearest hospital where a doctor
checked the inter ocular pressure and told my parents I had
glaucoma. I have been going to the eye doctor for treatment once a year
every since.
My left eye turns in a little toward my nose,
and I have a cataract. The ophthalmologist tells me that the cataract can not be removed
because of possible complications.
In 1992, I was referred to an ocularist
and now wear a scleral cover shell. I wish I would have had this sooner because kids can really be mean.
It also would have saved a lot of strange looks from people who just seem to stare at my
disfigured eye.
Now I am doing Ok, and feel it is really not that
bad. I would love to hear from you if you would like to talk.
Angela
